With many Australian states going in and out of lockdowns due to the new Delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s become increasingly difficult to keep up with our fitness routines. While many of us have been able to go back to our gym routine, those of us who are currently in lockdown aren’t so lucky.  This has highlighted the importance of personal trainers and the roles they play in helping us get through lockdown after lockdown. However, with gyms often closed and social gatherings limited, personal trainers have had to adapt how they train their clients. One on one and online training has become the personal training style of the future. One on one outdoors sessions with your PT Depending on the type of restrictions you are currently facing in your city; you may be able to train one on one with your personal trainer in an outdoor area. While many personal trainers would previously offer outdoor group fitness classes, many have begun to offer outdoor classes to single clients to comply with government health directives. Outdoor training is a fantastic way to train as you can utilise your environment in your training while maintaining the necessary social distancing rules to ensure that you and your personal trainer stay safe.

Online personal training sessions with your PT Full lockdowns are difficult for many. To help clients still maintain their fitness and mental health many personal trainers are offering online personal training sessions to their clients. Much of the training can be completed with minimal equipment needed and can often be performed from the comfort of your lounge or backyard. Your personal trainer will be able to adjust your routine to account for the basic equipment you have at home, such as bands or dumbbells. Alternatively, they can also take you through challenging bodyweight-only exercises as well. Clients are often offered online check-ins as well as ongoing support to help them maintain their goals through the lockdowns. What is fantastic about online training is the fact that you can usually work with your trainer consistently through in-person sessions and transition to online-only when necessary. This allows a certain level of continuity and normality that can be important for many through such a difficult time.

Work Hard – Train Hard – Play Hard.

Stay active during lockdown

Taking the time to exercise is so important for your overall physical and mental health and wellbeing. While some of us are unable to make it to the gym due to lockdowns, there are other avenues that are available to ensure that we still get our exercise in.

Utilising the expertise of a personal trainer is one of the best ways to maintain your physical health while still following the social distancing rules. With one on one outdoor or online options available, it is still possible to train effectively, even without a gym.

Personal trainers have adapted their businesses and style of training so that we can all still benefit from their expertise and knowledge. If you need a personal trainer to help you maintain and reach your fitness goals through the lockdown and beyond, why not give Picks PT team a call?
